The Victoria Club has been successful in its planning application to install floodlights to light its tennis courts so play can go on for longer all year round. It had applied for permission to install floodlights on its courts off Victoria Avenue.

The application has recently been approved by Cheshire East council. There had been concerns that the approval would come with very restrictive hours of use, after an environmental report had suggested turning the lights off very early every day – even at weekends. Happily, the planning permission says that the lights can be used between 9.00am and 21.45 pm every day, so that should give plenty of time for all year round play.
Hopefully this will encourage greater use of the Victoria Club tennis courts outside of the summer months. If you are interested in joining the tennis section, please enquire inside the Victoria Club (Victoria Avenue, off London Road).
