The Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Holmes Chapel

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the village is organising a day of activities to be held at the Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre, (at the Comprehensive School) on Sunday 3rd June.
This will consist of
- United Church Service 11.30 am Large Sports Hall
- Big Lunch (bring own picnic) 1.00 pm Field or school dining hall if wet
- Activities around “The Palace” 2.00 pm Field (Leisure Centre halls if wet)
“The Palace” will consist of a number of Royal rooms (otherwise known as gazebos) each being run by organisations in the village. Holmes Chapel (Middlewich Road) Primary school has been given the Blue Drawing Room (Hermitage has Red, and Holmes Chapel Comprehensive has White).
Other activities are also planned including circus skills, a climbing wall, mini Olympics, and dancing. The U3A Quilting and Embroidery group will be making a celebratory banner in their ‘room’ so we can all go along and sign or embroider our name to go down in history as being part of Holmes Chapel's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
No doubt there's much more that will be going on and more information to be added. If you would like to add to this, please either comment or drop me an email to

Something on your mind?
Have your say on the Holmes Chapel discussion forum. Forums are a great place to talk about any local activities and issues, promote your events or clubs or just pass some time with other local people.
The forum is easy to use (I hope!) and if you find that you would like to see any additional sections adding, just either post on the forum or

I'm very keen to encourage new articles from local people for inclusion on the site.
If you are involved in a local community group, local politics, a local school or church, you run a local sports team or you're working on a particular event then please consider writing a short article for Holmeschapel.org.uk to tell other people about it.
How to add an article
Submitting an article to the site is very easy:
- You need to register first of all if you haven't already (see the menu on the left in the middle of the page or click here to register).
- Click on the "Articles and News" menu link on the top right and it will expand to show to show the option to Submit an article.
- Click on that (or click the link above) and then follow the on-screen instructions to create and submit your article. If you need any help just drop me an email (see below).
Articles are moderated before being published so I can help with formatting and images if needed so there's no need to be nervous about posting something just because you're not sure about getting the formatting correct. I will be trying to give some front page exposure to as many as I can, but even if an article is not on the front page, it will be findable both within the site and within Google and other search engines. If you have submitted an article and it doesn't seem to have appeared anywhere and you haven't heard anything from me within a week or so, feel free to prompt me by email!
